USDA pomological watercolourist · 6 works in this reference
Henry G. Van Deman (1846–1930) was the first Chief of the USDA Division of Pomology, appointed in 1886, and it was under his leadership that the watercolour collection was begun. A pomologist rather than primarily a painter, he shaped the program that commissioned artists to document the nation's fruit varieties.
