Carlton is a heritage apple cultivar that originated in Geneva, New York, US (introduced 1923). P Montgomery x Red Astrachan. The U.S. Department of Agriculture documented it with 2 watercolour studies (1873), painted by L.C.C. (Louis Charles Christopher) Krieger and Mary Daisy Arnold, as official botanical identification records made before colour photography.
