Margaret Apple

Historical USDA watercolour of the Margaret Apple apple, painted 1840

Margaret is a heritage apple cultivar that originated in England (before 1800). It was grown primarily for eating. A red apple with streaks on the sunny side. The U.S. Department of Agriculture documented it with a watercolour study (1840), painted by Deborah Griscom Passmore, as official botanical identification records made before colour photography.
