Mother Apple
Mother — the American Mother apple — originated in Bolton, Massachusetts, around the 1840s. Deep red over yellow, it is aromatic and richly sweet with a distinctive flavour, ripening in autumn for dessert use. Prized more for taste than shipping, it was documented by the USDA as a notable New England dessert apple.
