Patten is a heritage apple cultivar that originated in Wisconsin, US (before 1869). It was grown primarily for cooking. Width 85 mm, height 70 mm. The U.S. Department of Agriculture documented it with a watercolour study (1875), painted by Royal Charles b. Steadman, as official botanical identification records made before colour photography.
