Red June Apple
Carolina Red June is a small, early-summer apple long grown across the American South and documented by the early nineteenth century. Deep red over a yellow ground, with crisp, tart white flesh, it was a favourite first apple of the season for fresh eating and sauce. Its popularity in southern orchards is reflected in its appearance in the USDA collection.
