Shackleford is a heritage apple cultivar that originated in Missouri, US (before 1883). It was grown primarily for eating. Width 83 mm, height 69 mm. The U.S. Department of Agriculture documented it with a watercolour study (1860), painted by Amanda Almira Newton, as official botanical identification records made before colour photography.
