Passe Crassane Pear

Historical USDA watercolour of the Passe Crassane Pear pear, painted c.1886–1942

Passe Crassane is a heritage pear cultivar that originated in Rouen, France (1855). It was grown primarily for eating. A variety developed by M. Boisbunel, a nurseryman from Rouen, France. The U.S. Department of Agriculture documented it with a watercolour study, painted by Bertha Heiges, as official botanical identification records made before colour photography.
