Patten is a heritage pear cultivar from Iowa, US. It was grown primarily for eating. Hardy to -50 degrees F. Large tender and juicy fruit. The U.S. Department of Agriculture documented it with a watercolour study (1875), painted by Royal Charles b. Steadman, as official botanical identification records made before colour photography.
